DUTCH HUNGERWINTER STUDY

The Dutch Famine Birth Cohort Study is an ongoing study investigating the
effects of exposure to the 1944-1945 wartime famine (‘Hongerwinter’) in utero
on health in adulthood. Our research has shown that malnutrition during
pregnancy has lasting consequences for the later health of the child and
generations afterwards.
